About my treatments
Sports Massage is not solely for people who do sports. If you work at a desk, or spend a lot of time driving, you may suffer back, shoulder and neck pain or stiffness. Sports Massage utilises methods such as muscle energy techniques (METs), soft tissue release (STR), and stretching to break down adhesions, relieve tension and aid circulation.
Deep Tissue Massage concentrates on areas of tension and pain and uses deep, slow strokes in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It helps to break down adhesions in the tissue to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
Myofascial Release is a gentle manual therapy used to treat soft tissue and fascial tension and restrictions. Where fascia becomes tightened it can restrict movement and cause pain. I will utilise myofascial release techniques where fascia is found to be causing restriction to the muscles and joints.
Kinesio Taping is a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It can be used for a range of conditions including muscle imbalance and helps with postural correction, plus providing pain relief and helping to prevent re-injury.

Before your appointment
Prior to your treatment I will be asking a number of COVID-19 screening questions, as well as carrying out my usual consultation. If you have Covid or any symptoms we will need to reschedule your appointment.
Please wear a face covering when you come for a treatment, unless you are restricted from doing so. I will be wearing PPE including a face mask; and my massage couch and equipment will be sanitised between each client.
If you have recently had your Covid vaccination jab I am asking everybody to wait one week before coming for a massage appointment in case of any immediate side effects.
If you have previously tested positive for COVID-19 and have received medical treatment or been hospitalised for Covid I will need you to seek consent from your GP prior to a treatment.
If you have a medical condition which may be a contraindication to treatment, are pregnant, or suspect you may be pregnant, I will need you to seek guidance from your medical professional or GP.
This also includes if you come under a category which means you are clinically extremely vulnerable if you contract coronavirus.
Please click here to see if you fall into the clinically extremely vulnerable category. If you have any questions, please give me a call on 07921 553849.
Thank you. Zoe Myall

What should you wear for a treatment?
Comfortable, loose clothing. Shorts can be worn if you prefer. Towels are used during the treatment to cover areas not being worked on so you are kept comfortable.
Is it painful?
If you have areas of tightness, tenderness can be felt; however, I will speak to you during the massage to check the pressure and ensure you are comfortable and less or firmer pressure can be used.
What does an appointment involve?
At the first appointment, a medical history is taken and a treatment plan will be discussed and agreed with you. For sports massage, depending on your requirements I may carry out passive, active, and resisted muscle tests to identify where muscle tightness, weakness or imbalances exist. After the treatment, specific exercises and stretches can be suggested to help you.
On your first appointment you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire. This is to ensure that the treatment is suitable for you. If there are any health concerns you may be referred to your GP for further advice. You must also notify the therapist if you are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant.
All information provided will be treated as confidential and safely stored and your details will be updated to create a record of the treatment provided and its outcome.
